A safe warm place where anxiety sufferers can gather and communicate.
Who are we?
The Panic Assistance League is a volunteer support system of therapists who all have personal experience with anxiety disorders. Our first meeting was in September of 1987 in Manhattan Beach, California. In those days a group meeting might have been one or two people coming together. Now we enjoy the friendship of 20 – 25 people every Tuesday night and we moved to Redondo Beach about ten years ago. Our Director and founder is Janice Held, M.A., MFT. Her personal experience with panic attacks began in September of 1970. Since then she went to Antioch University to become a psychotherapist to treat anxiety disorders, especially panic attacks. Other therapists from Coast Counseling Center volunteer their time to help with the teen and preteen groups. This team does know that anxiety is real and it is treatable.
